It was about 25 years ago when I renovated my 1st house. I was a newlywed, and I didn’t have a lot of information about interior design. The main concern for me and my husband on renovation was only about aesthetics and comfort.
I have 3 kids now. Hence there are new concerns when it comes to renovating my new house. My daughters wished to keep the elements in the old house, which is the Victorian concept as it creates a warm and welcoming feeling.
I know a lot of people tend to think the Victorian style that I adore, is out-dated. However, I still prefer the Victorian style to Modern as they are timeless and elegant.
I told my interior designer from Rezt+Relax Interior Design that I wished to keep the Victorian concept but at the same time, add in some modern elements. She impressed me with her professionalism and design sense.
After the renovation, the place that impressed me the most is the kitchen. I love cooking for my family. But whenever I wanted to cook in my previous old kitchen, I cannot withstand the heat, not even for 5 mins. That is why I seldom cook. Now with the new spacious and air-conditioned kitchen, I can cook happily and comfortably. I can even bake cookies with my daughters and this helps to strengthen the family bonding.
